Honoring the Bond
The American Humane Association has always recognized the connection we each share as living beings. From our beginnings in 1877, the mission of American Humane Association has been to ensure the welfare of children and animals. Since that time, we have been at the forefront of almost every major advancement in protecting children, pets and farm animals from cruelty, abuse and neglect. The American Humane Certified program, now over ten years old, was the first third party audit program of farm animal welfare in the nation.
Our voluntary program is built around a comprehensive set of science-based standards and sound research. As the nation’s voice for the protection of children and animals, American Humane Association reaches millions of people every day through groundbreaking research, education, training and services that span a wide network of organizations, agencies and businesses. We invite you to learn more about our heritage, our science-based standards, and our producers.
