Clover Stornetta
In 2000, Clover Stornetta Farms became the first dairy in the U.S. to be awarded the American Humane Certified label for humanely produced dairy products. Certification of humane practices precipitated significant changes for Clover Stornetta’s producers and for the cows. Several new barns were built so the cows would have room to come in out of the weather. Recognizing the social nature of cows, Clover producers allowed the cows to congregate, rather than live in separate pens. Tails are no longer docked, and in some cases bedding is changed three times a day. These management practices have further improved milk quality, and generated consumer appreciation and loyalty.
With their strong emphasis on quality, Clover Stornetta introduced its North Coast Excellence program in 1995, with full third party certification in 1999. North Coast Excellence Certified guarantees that all of the milk bottled at the plant is from only the top milk producers in the North Coast region and comes from cows not treated with rBST (Bovine Growth Hormone). The milk is extensively tested at each stage of production in our on-site lab.
Clover Stornetta products can be found in select stores and restaurants in California, Nevada and Arizona.
